While it has been widely covered that the pricier model has 4 ports and uses the latest 10th Generation processors and graphics from Intel versus the cheaper 2 ports model that uses the older 8th Gen Intel silicon, other differences have been largely ignored.
Here are some differences Apple doesn't advertise (and what many reviewers apparently don't know about).
The $1,799 model has woofers that the cheaper model doesn't have when it opens the two 2020 MacBook Pro 13 models, as Max Tech shows (at 10:58 mark). That is huge if you want your MacBook to have the best sound. Better bass makes a big difference as anyone who owns (like I do) a 16-inch MacBook Pro can tell you.
Fans: You get two fans on a $1,799 model, one fan on a cheaper model In the same Max Tech video, it's clear that the $1,799 model has two fans * and the $1,299 model has just one. That's another critical difference if you're pushing the performance envelope on your MacBook Pro 13 and want all the help you can get from heat dissipation.
