George Miller plans to expand the world of 'Mad Max' to include a prequel film based on the 2015 'Fury Road' of Charlize Theron's Imperator Furiosa.

In an interview with The New York Times, the director said the film is a history of origin and he's looking to take over the role for an actress in her 20s. He said that he had planned to use decay technology to allow Theron, who is 44, to play the role again, but decided not to do so.

"I thought we could only use CG-de-aging on Charlize for the longest time, but I don't think we 're almost yet," Miller said. "I think there's still an uncanny valley, despite the valiant attempts to 'The Irishman.'"

When preparing the script "Fury Road," Miller and co-writer Nick Lathouris developed stories for each character, but not much about the past of Furiosa was revealed. She's a war captain under Immortan Joe in the film, but she turns against him to free Joe's concubines. She then forms an alliance with Tom Hardy 's Max Rockatansky.

Miller directed all four "Mad Max" films and was nominated for "Fury Street" in 2015 as the best picture and best director. After shooting "Three Thousand Years of Longing," with Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton, he planned to film the Furiosa movie. This project was unveiled on the US Film Market in 2018.

MGM has signed a "Three Thousand Years" domestic rights deal. Details about the plot are included. The film will be released in the USA via MGM 's United Artists Releasing Joint Distribution and Marketing Entity. Deadline Hollywood first reported the MGM news.
