It's only natural that devices like the OnePlus Z that's under wraps would have their specs coming from the rumor mill. The latest murmur on that is the device will come with a Snapdragon 765 chipset and not the grapevine frequenting MediaTek Dimensity 1000L. Being a leak, however, indicates this claim should for now be taken lightly. But that could be supported by some scenarios.
GSM Arena underlines an interesting possibility. One is why the OnePlus Z was initially delayed. It is possible that the company deliberately delayed the device as it contemplated on certain specs that were offered but not yet available immediately. What if Qualcomm had anything to do with offering a new chipset to power the version OnePlus 8 Lite?
Being a lite version, it's unlikely that the OnePlus Z will get a more powerful chip over the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. Why settle for a Snapdragon 765 over a Dimension 1000 or 1000L, if that holds? There are several factors which need to be considered. One includes the manufacturing costs that radiate to the pricing standpoint that the device can carry. Even though OnePlus has been known to offer more than reasonable prices over other expensive flagships, entry-level and mid-range phones are expected to have the same practice.
The OnePlus Z could come armed with a MediaTek Dimension 1000 or a Dimension 800, according to another leaker, Ishan Agarwal (via Android Authority). Whichever it comes from among the two, it's a given that the phone will be 5 G ready. The device's other specs include 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB or 256 GB of storage, a 4,000 mAh battery, and 30 W charging. A trio of rear cameras (48 MP, 16 MP, 12 MP) will come in. Some argue it will come only with a dual-camera compliment. In terms of pricing, Agarawal alleged the OnePlus Z would be able to retail at about $498 but in the UK.
