James McAvoy is the lead role in Sandman's audible adaptation

Audible adaptation of Neil Gaiman's "The Sandman," James McAvoy, Kat Dennings, Taron Egerton, Andy Serkis and Michael Sheen will play voice roles.

In a press release Wednesday Audible announced that McAvoy, 41, will be voice the title character, named Morpheus and Dream, in an audio adaptation of Neil Gaiman's DC Comics series.

Gaiman will serve as the Sandman adaptation's narrator, creative director and executive producer. Dirk Maggs, who worked previously with Gaiman for audio adaptations of Neverwhere, Stardust, Good Omens and Anasi Boys, adapted and directed the project.

The voices of Kat Dennings include Death, Taron Egerton like John Constantine, Samantha Morton like Urania Blackwell, Andy Serkis like Matthew the Raven, Michael Sheen like Lucifer and Bebe Neuwirth as Siamese Cat.

"This cultural phenomenon is a truly exceptional collection of artists. We are humbled to work with Neil Gaiman and DC to create a truly immersion adaptation that we know will be loved by fans and listeners," said audible editor of originals David Blum.
