The annual update to the iPhone lineup is rumored to offer three models across two levels, similar to ranges for iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro. The "iPhone 12" Pro models could offer something else in the form of a high-refresh-rate display for 2020.

EverythingApplePro claims that Apple will use a ProMotion display on the 2020 versions of the Pro model. If true, that would mean the 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch higher-specification models can switch between a 60Hz and 120Hz display mode similar to the technology version of the iPad Pro, but the 5.4-inch "iPhone 12" will have a normal 60Hz display.

ProMotion offers a few advantages, including smoother on-screen movement of items when engaged at 120Hz, while switching refresh rate will allow the iPhone to go down to lower power conservation rates.

The use of ProMotion in the 2020 iPhones has been rumored before, though the technology was not suggested to be used on specific models.

While previous rumors point to a smaller TrueDepth camera array and notch, the supposed leak also claims that Face ID will be able to work with a wider field of view, allowing users to be authenticated at more extreme angles than is currently possible.

On the back, LiDAR will enhance the rear camera system, such as speeding up the autofocus system and enhancing image stabilisation, as well as improving Portrait Mode shots. In addition, Smart HDR will be enhanced to improve low-light photography.

One of the lenses may also get a tweak away from LiDAR. The telephoto lens may have increased magnification, moving from 2x to 3x, providing users with a higher zoom level before the camera app needs to use the digital zoom feature.
