Google Pixel 4 XL Appears Unreleased Option for Gray Color

Google had introduced three-color options for the Pixel 4 XL, Clearly White, Just Black, and Oh So Orange. Well, a Pixel 4 XL fourth color variant just showed up, a gray model.

This image has appeared on the Chinese Taobao online shopping site, and is just a device prototype. This "engineering machine" is actually available for sale, and priced at CNY2,699 ($382).

Note that the seller may have replaced the back cover of some other Pixel 4 XL color option. That's a possibility, on the other hand, this is a still-unseen variant of the telephone, too.

This seems to be a grey Google Pixel 4 XL prototype

That being said, the phone's back cover isn't easy to replace, and no signs of a replacement appear to be present. So it's possible that this is an actual gray Pixel 4 XL prototype.

In fact, XDA Developers validated the IMEI number for this phone in the database, and it is the Pixel 4 XL. In fact, the code-name on the back of the phone, C2, reveals that Verizon is the carrier that it wants.

Is it possible Google plans to offer a new Pixel 4 XL color option? Well, it certainly does seem like that. You'll also notice that the sticker at the bottom of the phone says "this device has not been authorized as required by the rules of the Federal Communications Commission and Industry Canada, nor has it been tested for compliance with EU regulations. This device may not be sold or leased.

Now, it's possible for the device to become available on the one hand. On the other hand, it is possible that the design was only tested, and should never actually make it available on the market. It's possible Google just dropped it down.

If you want to look at this Pixel 4 XL variant, we've included quite a few images below. A few of them have been snapped by the seller, and some of them even show you the powered device.

The phone was initially launched in October of last year

In October last year the Google Pixel 4 XL was announced back. The Pixel 4 arrived along with it, too. The two phones have been on sale for quite some time now, and announcing a new color option may be the right time for Google to do so.

The firm has no habit of doing that, like, let's say, Samsung. Things can change, though, of course, but this way, considered just a Google prototype, nothing more, is still more likely.

The launch of the Google Pixel 4a is anticipated later this month. That'll become a brand new mid-range offering from Google. A new Pixel 4 XL color variant may launch alongside it, not likely but possible.

The Google Pixel 4a will feature the Pixel 4 and 4 XL main camera, and an inferior SoC. That device will be significantly more affordable than flagships in Google.
