Cabin crew Emirates lays off trainee pilots


On Sunday, Emirates said it had made some staff redundant due to the coronavirus pandemic, with 2 sources stating that it had been affected by trainee pilots and cabin crews.

"To sustain our business operations, we reviewed all the possible scenarios but concluded, unfortunately, that we have some wonderful people with whom we worked, to say goodbye."

"To protect employees wherever we can the company does everything possible," she said.

With about 60,000 staff in the state-owned aviation company and part of the Emirates Group, the number of people affected by job cuts was not reported.

Emirates said on 10 May that it would be able to maintain its skillful workforce by a Dubai government commitment to provide it with 'equity injections.'

The dnata subsidiary of the Emirates Group also dismissed certain people and put thousands more into unpaid vacation.
