I feel like I shouldn’t have to say this, but no - there’s absolutely not USB-C in iPhone 12.— Jon Prosser (@jon_prosser) April 18, 2020
Apple will go portless before they go USB-C.
This is not the first time we hear that Apple is going to ditch the port entirely. The company has been removing 3.5 mm headphone jack on its smartphones already. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had predicted earlier this year that in 2021 models the company will do away with the ports. He said a portless iPhone would enable the company to fit a larger battery as well as improve elements like water resistance.
That being said, Apple has for quite some time changed the charging language. First it introduced wireless charging and added accessory support such as AirPods Pro. With iPhone 11, Apple introduced Lightning connector to USB Type-C.
Apple works on AirPower as well. The rare Apple product which has been cancelled is likely to finally debut later this year. Prosser had said in one of his old tweets that AirPower's renewed interest will help Apple push portable iPhones.
